I've done a little AP with it using a full frame Sony A7, and another smaller CCD camera, with not so great results, and the more I looked into it, the more I realized that such a setup was like jumping into the AP game on God mode difficulty. I wouldn't spend more money modding it but I would spend an afternoon. My scope isn't great for AP, (ADX w/ Celestron 8' SCT f/10) and I am an amateur in the purest sense of the word, so would never mod a camera I actually cared about, so this was a rather convenient find. The astro mod seemed like a good compromise since I won't need lenses, minimal investment of a canon t ring. I'm a little concerned about the shutter count at over 80k, and don't necessarily want to throw good money on lenses for a 10 yo camera which may be on it's last legs, (battery almost shot, missing external part of lens release button).

When I got my first dslr, a T2i (550D), my shutter count was over that in about 3 weeks, but a year and a half later it's still going strong. I've always bought new bodies (5 so far) but have had some second hand and refurb lenses and they have all worked flawlessly.

I can understand you're a little disappointed though after reading some of the posts about refurbs with shutter counts of only 35-50.

TBH fa I wouldn't worry unduly about the shutter count on your 60D as it should be good for a heck of a lot more than that.
